This year's ASA volunteers Jörg and Johannes are staying in Tadlo for a period of 3 and 4 months. Together with the tutors, they are maintaining the computer network, introducing new applications and teaching at the TCEC. Johannes and Jörg are instructing the two tutors to qualify them for the teaching and administration of the TCEC. After the ASA volunteers have left, the tutors will independently teach and run the day-to-day business at the TCEC under the supervision of the director Soulideth. We are very happy to be able to rely on the support of ASA volunteers for the 5th time since 2004. |

We are happy to announce that the TCEC has two new tutors who will be running the day-to-day business at the TCEC. The new tutors are Viphaphone, a former student at the TCEC and Chanda who studied at the Pedagogy College in Salavanh. They are currently being introduced to their work by Soulideth, the director of the TCEC. Johannes, one of this year's ASA volunteers, has arrived in Tadlo a few weeks ago and has started the intensive training for the new tutors. We warmly welcome Viphaphone and Chanda and are looking forward to a fruitful cooperation. |

The construction of the new TCEC building has been completed. We are very happy that our students now have a library where they can read and study. The new building also provides a toilet for our students and houses a separate Internet Café for the income generation of the TCEC. We would like to thank the German organization Stiftung Umverteilen for providing the funds for the construction. |

The construction of the second TCEC building has started. The new building will house a library and lavatories for our students as well as an Internet Café for the income generation of the TCEC. The capacities of our school building are completely utilised with the computer pool and we could not provide enough additional space for a reading area with the books donated by Room to Read. The new building will provide our students with the required additional space for reading and self-paced learning. Furthermore, with the new Internet Café the income generation will be separated from the class room and will thus not interfere with the lessons anymore. The construction should be completed within the next months and we are looking forward to inaugurate the improved infrastructure at the TCEC. |

German organization provides financing for library |
|
Monday, 29 December 2008 |
Since the current school building just provides enough space for the computer class room, a second building is required to house a library for reading and self-paced learning. The German organization Stiftung Umverteilen provides the required funds for the construction of this building which will give our students more room to study. In the name of our students, the TCEC team would like to thank for this generous support. The preparations have already started and the construction of the library will soon begin. |
